Brazil’s Pecém has entered into a partnership with the Ports of Rotterdam on different renewable energy projects.
The duo has signed a cooperation agreement on energy projects including offshore wind and green hydrogen. The agreement signing was witnessed by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the country's economic delegation at the port of Pecém.
According to the authorities, “the declaration of intent was signed via a live video link between the World Port Center in Rotterdam and the Pecém Port Complex Integration Company, CIPP in Brazil, during the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition 2.”
It has been informed that the cooperation will contribute to the “Port of Rotterdam Authority’s goal to become a pioneer in the European hydrogen economy.”
To achieve this ambition, the port has focused on green hydrogen. It plans to import renewable energy on a large scale for the European energy supply, a local report mentioned.
To be noted, the Port of Rotterdam Authority co-owns the port of Pecém.
Pecem serves as an industrial and logistics hub for north-east Brazil and leads towards international trade flows and investment from Europe.
