French solar developer and independent power producer Reden has commenced operations at two solar farms in Italy’s mountainous Molise region, delivering a combined capacity of 14 MW.
The photovoltaic facilities are situated in the Montenero di Bisaccia municipality, within the province of Campobasso.
According to Reden, the two solar parks are expected to generate approximately 21.7 GWh of electricity annually—enough to supply the needs of over 7,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 13,000 tonnes each year.
Named Montenero 1 and Montenero 2, the solar farms were constructed by Altenia, a subsidiary of Terna Energy Solutions, which is part of Italy's national grid operator Terna SpA.
Due to the local terrain, the projects required the installation of elevated electrical substations. Altenia will also handle operations and maintenance for both facilities over the next two years.
Established in 2018, Reden currently operates 1 GW of installed capacity worldwide. Luca Crisi, Reden Italy's country manager, highlighted Italy as “one of its most important markets globally.”
