Thailand to Provide $1.5 Billion for Rooftop Solar Scheme

Thailand will launch a 50 billion baht ($1.52 billion) programme to support rooftop solar installations from mid-October, Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas said on September 9.
The programme will provide financial support to consumers installing rooftop solar panels. The government will also introduce tax exemptions for certain imported solar panel components to help lower costs and encourage wider adoption.
The initiative comes as Thailand seeks to accelerate renewable energy deployment and strengthen its energy sustainability. The rooftop solar scheme is expected to stimulate demand for solar equipment and services while supporting the country’s broader energy transition.
