Vietnam dwells on transition talks with energy state-owned groups



The Vietnamese government has dwelt on energy discussions with various state-owned groups as it is considering energy transition.


In particular, Nguyen Hong Dien, the Minister of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and Nguyen Hoang Anh, Chairman of the Committee for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises held the meeting.


Discussions were held between the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) and Petroleum of Vietnam (PVN), a local report mentioned.


It comes at a time as in 2022, the electricity sale of EVN was 242.7 billion kWh, which has grown by 7.73% as compared to 2021.


It has been reported that during the meeting, representatives of EVN, TKV and PVN shared about current challenges and presented recommendations.


During the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien, said, “Energy development is an important strategic task, it services as an infrastructure foundation for the economic, social development and implements the goal of industrialization and modernization of the country,” a local report mentioned.


In Vietnam, the energy industry has achieved a huge success at present, and has effectively performed its role as the economic locomotive of the country.


The ministry was of view that the large resources for investment and development of the energy sector were mobilized with the joint participation and cooperation of energy enterprises.


In addition, the Minister directed EVN, TKV, and PVN to consider “increasing labor productivity, innovation, and solving the relationship between the material prices, and input fuel prices and output product prices in line of the market economy rules.”
