Spanish renewable energy company Acciona Energía is advancing its battery energy storage deployment in Spain, with two new projects totaling 33 MW/66 MWh of BESS capacity.
The projects will integrate battery storage with the company’s existing renewable energy assets, supporting the continued development of renewable-plus-storage solutions across Spain.
One of the projects will be developed alongside the company’s 50 MW Bolarque solar PV plant. The associated BESS will have a capacity of 20 MW/40 MWh, providing two hours of energy storage.

The second project will be linked to a wind power facility and will feature a 13 MW/26 MWh BESS system.
Together, the two projects will add 33 MW of power capacity and 66 MWh of energy storage capacity to Acciona Energía’s portfolio.
The developments highlight the company’s continued focus on combining renewable generation with battery storage, enabling solar and wind assets to be supported by additional flexibility and energy management capabilities.
As Spain continues to expand renewable generation, the integration of BESS with existing solar and wind assets is becoming increasingly important for improving the flexibility of renewable power systems and supporting the wider energy transition.
