Ibereólica projects the two largest wind farms in Spain

Grupo Ibereólica is working on the launch of two wind energy macro projects that will become the largest ever built in Spain.

According to the company, the Ibercerrato 1 wind farm will have a generation capacity of 586 MW. The project will be located in the provinces of Burgos, Palencia and Valladolid.

It has been regarded as the largest wind farm to be built in Spain. This project will exceed the 300 MW of Gecama project that the Israeli Enlight wants to hybridize with solar energy and batteries in the province of Cuenca.

The second project is the Hybrid Wind-Solar Walls facility, which will have a capacity of 550 MW made up of a wind farm.

"The wind turbine model chosen for the project's wind farm is the Siemens Gamesa SG 6.0-170, with a unit power of 6.25 MW," a report mentioned.

According to the company, "it will use a windward three-blade rotor wind turbine, regulated by an independent pitch change system on each blade and with an active orientation system. The control system allows the wind turbine to operate at variable speed, maximizing the power produced at all times and minimizing loads and noise."

Besides these projects in Spain, Ibereólica currently has a partnership with Respol to develop up to 2.6 GW of renewables in Chile.
